#MFW #Enlightenment – The new Fall/Winter 2019 Collection

#Enlightenment – Not only the name of AIGNER's new Fall/Winter 2019 Collection, but also the beginning of a new fashion development in our time.

I wanted to learn more - so I traveled to Milan last week, in order to follow the AIGNER Fashion show live and up close for you. But what does #Enlightenment mean precisely? Enlightenment was a period around 1700 during which people were able to overcome every progress-hindering structure through rational thought. In short, they wanted to free themselves from the traditional, rigid and outdated concepts of the Middle Ages and strive for progress.

Knowledge, freedom and happiness were the key ideas of this age. So it is no surprise that pansies, the leading symbol of the free thinkers, are coming into full effect for Creative Director Christian Alexander Beck.
By the way: in medieval times, the pansy also already represented humanistic ways of thinking.

So in the Fall/Winter 2019 Collection “Enlightenment”, unpretentious, slim silhouettes are merging with opulent, high-contrast and sophisticated designs. A fascinating mix of clean and cool forms on the one hand as well as abundant details, decorations and surfaces on the other hand.

The models walked the runway to the very impressive sounds of Swan Lake and aside from the pansy print, also wore horse’s heads and Tartan checks in two colorways, sometimes the most important elements for the winter. But the screw studs from the past collection have also caught on and earned a permanent place in the collection.

This time, the highlights consisted of metallic effects in gold and silver or in bright pink or dark green/blue as an iridescent effect. Truly incredibly beautiful! The core colors of the collection like ‘Night Grey’, ‘Dark Mauve’, ‘Bison Brown’‚ ‘Shadow Grey’ or ‘Light Mauve’ were deliberately designed to be subtle and muted – they exude refinement as well as class and give the prints, details and effects the necessary space to stand out.

And which bags should we keep an eye on? Definitely the Epona Bag. The top-handle models and the saddle bag from the archives of the seventies were fused into a new, luxurious heritage series. With its golden ‘horse’s head’, the classic version as a crossbody model or shoulder bag takes up the new, special collection element in a delightful way.

Furthermore, I immediately fell in love with the timeless and puristic Dea Bag, which honestly could become a new icon bag! Take a look at it: The Cosima Bag offers a romantic side and spreads playful lightheartedness with its pansy print. You are a fan of the Diadora Bag? Then you should pay attention. As a mini version of this series, the ‘Dora’ represents the theme par excellence in five special versions: every model picks up on a characteristic element of the collection.

The Savona Bag is a sight for sore eyes in silver mirrored leather. A trend you should not miss out on!

Another personal highlight – the Serena series offers us a new belt bag. Believe me, it will be really exciting, so rid yourself of the notion of only wanting to wear an it-bag and get ready for AIGNER’s new  #Enlightenment Collection.

You will find inspiration for possible combinations right here, as usual!

Yours, Kate
